Last night (Tuesday, June 23), John Rich appeared on the Hannity show to join the discussion about South Carolina State House removing the Confederate flag from its grounds. This has been a burning debate topic since last week’s racially motivated Charleston church shooting where 9 African-Americans attending a bible study lost their lives to white, 21-year-old gunman, Dylann Roof.
On Monday, June 22nd, Governer Nikki Haley held a press conference calling for the removal of the flat, stating that “This flag, while an integral part of our past, does not represent the future of our grate state” (CNN).
In the debate on Hannity, John Rich tells Sean Hannity, “There’s only one flag I care about… the American flag. If something’s bringing pain, or if something is bringing something that somebody uses for hate like that, I mean, I just don’t see the point of continuing to go forward with it.” Rich also congratulates Governor Haley for calling for the removal of the Confederate flat. “I applaud that and I think she’s right.”
