Dwight Yoakam Awarded by Country Radio

Dwight Yoakam has more than paid his dues to be awarded the Career Achievement Award from country radio broadcasters. Wednesday, June 24th marked the 41st annual Country Radio Hall of Fame banquet at the Omni Hotel in Music City.

When accepting this honor, Yoakum proudly said holding his trophy, “I haven’t gotten a lot of awards. I’ve had a great run and one thing I did have was great support from country radio.”

After his acceptance, a brief video presentation summarizing Yoakam’s lifetime achievements and introducing his latest album, Second Hand Heart. Back in 1986, Yoakam first entered the country music charts with ‘Honky Tonk Man,’ a cover of Johnny Horton’s 1956 hit.
